Yiming Sun, VP Finance
A bit about myself
My name is Yiming Sun, but everyone knows me as Sunny! I was born in China, moved to Montreal when I was only 9 years old and, believe it or not, decided to become an engineer even before that! My dad bought me a Lego tank when I was 5 years old, and I absolutely felt in love building and playing with it. I asked my dad: “Who builds tanks in real life?” he answers:” Engineers!” Boom, 18 years later here I am, not building real tanks but very close to be an engineer. Looking back into my 3 years at McGill, I am a little disappointed that I didn’t get involved from day 1. It took me one year before realizing how involvement can change my life. You start to get surrounded with motivated people and be able to achieve greater projects with your friends. Since then, I was Frosh Leader twice, Coordinator for Engineering-Week, VP Finance for Chemical Engineering Student’s Society and EUS Funds director. For me, these involvements helped me to balance the social and academic aspects of my life.
My role as a VP Finance
I get the privilege to sit on the Board of Governors and become an OAP manager. My main task is still to deal will all financial manners of EUS, such as budgeting, accounting, funding, corporate relations, investment, and the list goes on. My huge work load is shared with the two directors under my portfolio: Finance and Funds director. This year, I have the goal to stream line some of the EUS financial procedures that very out dated. If you have any questions about my role or just about anything, please come see me in the EUS office, I will be happy to help you!
